I read the Internet mail every day, and will reply immediately (allow a couple of days for net.delay), but only call CI$ once a fortnight.
The following is a reverse-chronology of the changes in each release (public or Beta) of SndConverter Lite. Note that version numbers which include the letter ‘a’ or ‘b’ were Alpha or Beta Testing releases only, and as such not available to the public. I have left their details in for your interest only. Remember that the list is sorted in reverse order, so the most recent releases are at the top.
What was the 1.0 release about? First international public release.
• The documentation was tweaked a little.
What was the 1.0b7 release about? Fixed probs with -120 errors.
• The application was reporting Directory Not Found (-120) errors while copying the converted file / folder out of the Temporary Items folder to the destination folder. After banging my head against the FSMakeFSSpec routine for 3 days, I fixed the problem by avoiding using it there.
• Wrote the documentation text files.
What was the 1.0b5 release about? Progress etc.
• Added support for the Escape key to cancel the conversion. Thanks to Registered User and Beta Tester Allan Marshall for requesting this feature.
• Some work on the Open All function. Still a bit buggy.
• I now sort the sounds within files alphabetically.
• Made the progress bar a little narrower, in line with the Finder’s.
• I new remember the resource ID of each sound and use it when writing the sound to a resource file, if there is no conflict.
What was the 1.0b3 release about? Colour fixes.
• Added “WAVE” file type to the list of recognised data fork sounds.
• Improved progress bar colour handling — colours now match System 7’s copy progress bar. I put the dctb’s back in, since colour didn’t work without them. Please let me know if you find any remaining colour problems.
What was the 1.0b2 release about? Beta-time!
• I have removed the dctb’s and reworded the time to upgrade dialog slightly, thanks to the suggestions of Beta Tester Richard Knuckey.
• SndConverter Lite is based on SndConverter Pro. Basically, the features that Pro has over Lite are:
* Help file
* Preferences dialog
* Downsampling
* Renaming dialog (lets you rename bad names)
* Name filtering (i.e. line / word caps and smart quotes)
* Morphing icons (neat animation of transforming icons)
* Move to Trash option
* Display sampling rate and display playing time options
